Last night I went the the midnight premier to see The Avengers in 3D.
IT. WAS. EPIC. AWESOME!
The plot was strong as expected. There was never a slow moment in the movie. The audience was drawn in and kept involved throughout movie. The actors stayed true to their character. The acting was great. The special effects were fantastic. IT WAS EPIC.
There was very little cussing or rude humor. There is blood in a few scenes, but nothing incredibly graphic. The fighting is intense, but is riddled with bits of humor throughout. A lot of people die throughout the course of the movie (as expected), but none of it is graphic. There is one disturbing scene where the bad guy punches a gadget into some random character's eye ball, but nothing graphic is seen.
Loki (the bad guy) takes control of a couple of important character's minds at the beginning of the movie, and he makes them work for him for a little while.
The Hulk of course does a lot of smashing, yelling, chasing, and crushing.
Iron Man was well behaved. He didn't have much time to misbehave, considering the circumstances.
Thor was awesome. He has some pretty funny lines and intense fighting scenes.
Captain America had the most incredible quote throughout the whole movie: "There is only One God, and I don't think he wears a costume like [Loki's]."
Hawkeye's bow, arrows, AND quiver would have shamed the Elves from Lord of the Rings.
Black Widow was amazing. Her intelligence and skills really shine in this movie.
As I said before, The Avengers is an epic movie!
Keep in mind all the above mentioned violence and action before taking a child.
I can't say about your kids, but I know my little brothers and sisters are going to LOVE this movie! I think it is a must have for our movie collection!
Great review K.J. This is a very entertaining film that continues Marvel's excellent track record in filmmaking. Whedon seems to have done the impossible of capturing all of these superheros and giving them all a chance to shine, and it doesn't even seem like it was much of an obstacle for him as writer and director. Great way to start off the Summer!
