So, as I was sitting here comparing the blankness of the post page to the blankness of my mind, I had to ask myself the killer question "Well, what is one of my favorite things to talk about?"
Of course there are a lot of things that I like to talk about, but the one that I thought I should talk about today was WRITING/READING.
I can already tell that you are super excited to read this post....
When I hear people say that they would like to read more books or would like to get more input on a book they are writing, I always recommend Authonomy to them.
Authonomy is a FREE writing community that authors can post books/stories that they have written (10,000 words is the MINIMUM: no little books allowed!) so they can get read and get noticed... maybe even get published! Authonomy also has helpful writing tips and advice from published authors, and they have fun forums where you can ask or answer questions and learn some things from other authors like yourself.
I really am glad that I found Authonomy. I have learned how to improve my writing by leaps and bounds just because of the helpful comments and messages I get from other authors. I have made some pretty good friends there too.
Seriously, I totally recommend Authonomy to any writing/reading enthusiast. If you love to nit-pick and critique other people's writing, read great books, want to learn to write better, or if you just want to know what other people think of your writing, Authonomy is the place for you!
If you would like to look me up on Authonomy after you sign up, you can find me here: Bruki's Keeper (K.J.Fogleman)
Another excellent writing resource I would recommend to you is The Writers Digest. The 'WD' magazine is loaded with a wealth of information on anything that has to do with writing! It has great articles from authors, bloggers, poets, editors, and agents about how to make your writing the best of the best. They also feature writing competitions and webinars that you can join. I think the subscription price is well worth it for The Writers Digest Magazine.
You can also register on their website (for free I believe) and find some good info there.
One of my favorite features on the website is the Weekly Writing Prompt. It is just a couple of sentences to help give your writing a little creative bump. Of course, it usually sends my overly writing oriented mind reeling with ideas, and before I know what I am doing, I am starting a new short story on a document. I really like the Weekly Writing Prompts.
So, there you are: my two most highly recommended writing sources.
Every writer needs a little help, and every good writer never stops learning how to become a great writer. Both Authonomy and The Writers Digest provide the resources for becoming a great writer.
See ya there!
