Save the Pitbull...From What??

Oooooh....I could go on about this one ALL DAY....
Really, this annoys me more than the Vampire trend (and the vampire trend is really annoying)
This does not annoy me be because of the dogs. It annoys me because of the IDIOTS that are screaming "Save the pit bulls!"
We have these complete fools, yes FOOLS, that go all mooshy gooshy when they watch a little short guy save a pit bull puppy on TV, so they go out and BUY a pit bull...or two or three!
Whats wrong with that? Well, number 1: you did not save a pit bull. You bought one.
Number 2: you just made the pit bull problem worse.
"How" you ask? Well let me tell you:
For one thing, YOU just encouraged breeders and puppy mills to breed more Pit Bulls because they see a lot of money rolling their way because of idiots like YOU that want to 'save the pit bulls'. They will inbreed their dogs and thus cause more glitches in the breed which will then cause more people to kill or dump the glitchy dogs that they bought which will then lead to more 'pit bull cruelty' which will then lead to more idiots like YOU who go out and buy/save some more pit bulls.
It turns into a vicious cycle, and YOU just made it worse....especially if you are one of those people who don't believe in Spaying/Neutering your dog.
Congratulations.
And now, the big part of this trend that REALLY. MAKES. ME. MAD.
This is Dakota.
We re-homed him to a family that wanted a Pomeranian and promised to take good care of him. A few months after they had adopted him, our vet called and said that someone had found Dakota wondering the highway.
His former 'family' was contacted and asked if they were missing him.
They weren't.
They had thrown him out onto the street for...*drum roll*... Pit Bulls.
So, when Dakota's 'new loving family' threw him out so they could save some pit bulls, he started on a homeward bound mission of his own. If it weren't for his tag that had our vet's number on it, and for the kind souls that found him wondering the highway, I don't know that he would have made it home to us.
Unfortunately, he is not the only story out there like this.
Countless Golden Retrievers, the angels of the dog world, have been thrown out of their homes for Pit Bulls.
So have German Shepherds.
So have dozens of other dogs.
And still I hear "SAVE THE PITBULLS"
I'm sorry....what part of the word 'SAVE' do these people not understand? They throw their other pets out on the street to die so they can....SAVE.... a Pit Bull??
A few words come to my mind when I think of these people:
TWO TIMING, HYPOCRITICAL, BACK STABBING, JERKS!!!!
And what makes this pit bull trend even worse is this: the IDIOTS (notice how I strain to express the word idiot) that decided to throw out their other dogs because they wanted to 'save the pit bulls' later go and dump their pit bulls because they can't handle them!
Or, these same IDIOTS who take on these dogs without thought of consequence, end up being forced to put their dog down because they could not keep it under control, and it bit somebody.
Bad pet owners are part of what give these pit bulls a bad rep.

Now let me tell you something about Pit Bull Terriers. Notice how the word 'terrier' is in their name? That is the main key to their personality.
Terriers are normally not 'other animal friendly' dogs, and they have, what I call, a 'Snappish' personality. They (terriers in general) can be absolutely fine and then SNAP!!....they turn into a demon.
Its how they were bred, and they were bred for their job. Their job was animal/pest control.
Now you take that, put it into a pit bull (who, by the way, is not a little dog, and whose original job was to control ornery bulls and keep them in line) and then amplify that 'Snappish Personality' 5 times by inbreeding the breed, and TA-DA! You have an easily aggravated dog that can snap in an instant and turn into a lethal monster that seriously hurts or even KILLS somebody.
It's happened. Don't deny it.
A lot of people argue that Pit Bulls are very misunderstood dogs. I agree with that. They are misunderstood in the way that, most of the owners have no idea what they are doing when they get a pit bull.
The type of people who own a friendly, reliable pit bull all have one thing in common: They understand how a Pit bull works and how dangerous it can be.
People who are just rushing out to get a Pit Bull without doing any research on the dog and it's mentality are the ones that... well.... usually someone ends up in the obituaries because of their refusal to understand their dog.
Pit Bulls need a strong, dominant, but gentle owner who has their environment/home life under control and who understands how this dog works, what makes it tick.
Pit Bulls need a lot of exercise and need jobs/training to keep their mind busy and to keep them under control.
Pit Bulls need home/hobby breeders that are going to carefully monitor how the dogs are bred, how the puppies are raised, and who the puppies go to.
Pit Bulls do NOT need a bunch of people rushing out to 'Save the Pit Bulls'.
Pit Bulls do NOT need a huge group of people denying that they are dangerous dogs.
They ARE dangerous dogs.
If you deny it, you are stupid.
I have seen a lot of really good Pit Bulls. Really!
But I have also seen the end results of a really good Pit Bull who snapped. It was not pretty.
I don't agree with banning the breed, but it needs to be limited to a few very responsible breeders who will clear up the glitches in the Pit Bull Terrier Breed.
Until that happens, this "Save the Pit Bulls" kick that everyone is on, is going to wipe out the Pit Bull breed entirely.

Yes, I am for saving the Pitbulls....
I want to save them and every other dog in the world from idiots who are dripping with stupidity.
