Birthdays are troublesome things...

A random picture of 'Bobo' and I
The past couple of days, I have been asked "So, what do you want for your birthday?"
My first response has been "Uuuuu....I don't know?"
After that there flowed out of my mouth an incessant bunch of jibberish about a pony, a puppy, a bicycle, a motorcycle, and stuff like that.
Then, the next question that I get asked is "Well, what do you want to do for your birthday?"
My first response is "Uuuuu.... I don't know?"
And then follows another bout of jibberish about going out with my friends, having a mud fight, going out dancing, getting drunk, and stuff like that. (Okay, I would never go get drunk. Dancing is pushing it, though my grandmother wants to teach me how to dance....course I think she is just trying to find creative ways for me to get married and start producing great grand-babies for her, but that is just a theory of mine...)
Seriously though, I don't know what I want to do for my birthday and I don't particularly care what I get for my birthday. I had made a wish list and I had made plans at the beginning of the year, but when I took my dog to Tulsa to get adopted, all my wishes and plans flew out the window. All of them revolved around him, and since he isn't here anymore, I haven't got any plans.
I have very few friends who live near me who I would hang out with. Those few friends that do live 'near' me are an hour away and will be too busy to just 'hang out' since my birthday will be on a Tuesday this year.
I would like to do something different for my birthday, something that I've never done before like: go to an amusement park, go pick out a puppy or a horse, hang out with friends doing whatever, or attempt to go dancing, but at the same time, I would just like to forget it.
I mean, what is a birthday anyway? A celebration to say "Yay! I'm older! I'm one more step away from stupid and one step closer to senile!"?
Okay, maybe not.
At this point, I'm just honestly like "SURPRISE ME." and believe me when I say, surprises around here DON'T happen. My birthday will be just like any other day: I will either go to work, or stay at home and work on my book(s) while playing computer games (Yes, I do both at the same time contrary to popular opinion). And honestly, that doesn't bug me. I'm cool with that.
It's the same for "what do you want for your birthday": I don't really care. It's whatever. I mean, I'm a pretty easy person to buy gifts for: I like books, I like shiny things, I like home made things, I like second hand things, I like jewelry, I like paper, I like music, I like masculine things (guns, knives, etc.). I especially like useful things like t-shirts, bags, baskets, appliances, guns, knives, paper, and things like that. And believe it or not, I really like M&M's and Poptarts....not so much for a birthday gift, because I feel guilty eating it all by myself, but you know, if you ever want to get on my good side, get me M&M's or Poptarts.
Anyway, it really isn't hard to figure out something to buy for me. I mean, you don't even have to buy it! Draw me a picture of little stick people and I will hang it on the wall for a good laugh! I would seriously like it!
I would like to do something fun and different for my birthday, but fun and different doesn't happen out here, and I am tired of trying to make it happen. Any plans I make generally get foiled, and I really just don't need any more "stuff" that I can afford to buy myself.
End of story.
Actually, if my sister gets to go pick up her puppy from Texas on my birthday, I will be super happy. It will make my day. Whatever makes her happy makes me happy! Unless it's something to do with Justin Beiber or Edward off of Twilight.... (Okay, I'm totally kidding. She's not a big fan of Edward)
Oh yeah, and if you draw me a picture or buy me anything that has to do with Justin Beiber, you will have signed your death warrant...like 'Bobo' did in the above picture.

  1. You sound like me on my birthday. I'm pretty sure my friends have given up on me ever giving them decent birthday ideas.
