Sketching, Thinking, & Writing, OH MY!!

CastleVille.... the chief of mind-numbing games.
I hate it when I find myself playing mind numbing games for the sake of passing time. There are so many things a person can do (especially this person) besides play games!
For example: I could read more in my Horticulture text book, dust off my sketch book and draw, or work on writing/editing my book(s). I think the latter is what all my friends and family would prefer me doing. The problem right now is I feel lacking in inspiration. That is why I am spending time on my blog now. Perhaps if I write something here, the writing part of my brain will start working again and I will be moved into action by a sudden bout of inspiration. Or perhaps I should dust off my sketch book. Drawing as always helped me when I feel unmotivated and uninspired. It has been a quite a while since the last time I actually sat down and drew something...it has been a very long time in fact! What, maybe over a year since I last drew??
One of my old drawings
Wow...yeah. Maybe I should sit down and sketch for a while.... Then again, maybe I just need to go for a walk and think. Sometimes that helps me to get focused and inspired.
It rained last night. The smell of moisture is a very refreshing smell to me. It has always whisked me away to the unknown worlds that I write about, allowing me to visit and have adventures with the people and creatures that I know and love so well in my books.
Taking a walk out into the open fields with the smell of rain and the feeling of the cool, moist earth beneath me sounds like a very good idea.
BUT, I need to organize my papers, desk, file box, clothes, and other random things that I have somehow, sometime collected in one way or another. I need to get my stuff moved out to my camper trailer, but I need my camper trailer moved before I get all my stuff out there.
And besides that, the yard is a MESS! With the rain last night came the wind. It blew so hard that it tore limbs off of our trees and knocked the kid's fort right over onto our picnic table! It blew all their toys around and scattered junk all over the place. It needs to be cleaned.
Next to that, I also need to go out and fix fence. It gets loose and falls apart over time, and with all the animals that we have, it needs to be repaired on a regular basis.
OH! There is just too much to do.
I think I'll just go back to what I was doing. I was happier there. Not as many things to worry about doing. I will go ahead and open one of my books up to work on it, but I'm not promising anything will happen to further the story. In the current state my brain is in, I will probably write something down and then erase it all.

  1. Hey Kathryn!
We need to get together, we need to catch up!!!! :) :) :) I have had some of the same feelings you have lately, boredom, and wanting to do something productive :) I started doing charcoal sketches of my friends, and it has not only helped pass the time, but it has helped my skills improve. I wanna show you some of the sketches! Please let me know when it works for you and we can get together! If you come down here we could even do a sleepover! :) I work Tues.-Friday, and I am off Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so just let me know! Love you and miss you!
